12 year girl murdered in cold blood at Agona Swedru

A twelve year-old girl has been murdered in cold blood at Agona Swedru in the Central region by an unknown person.

The girl according to reports was sent by her father, Sumaila Omaro, a Fulani herdsman leaving in the outskirts of Gomoa Ekwamkrom at about 0630 hours to fetch water from a well near their village for household chores.

Police Superintendent, Seth Panti Yirenkyi, Agona Swedru District Police Commander told Rainbow Radio that, at about 0730 hours in the morning, the father of the deceased reported that he sent his daughter to go and fetch water but she never returned. According to him, the father heard some shouting that his daughter had been killed by an unknown person about 100 meters away from the village where he rear his cattle.

According to the District Commander Omaro rushed to the scene and saw his daughter dead with deep cutlass cut at the back of her head. Superintendent Yirenkyi said the Police rushed to the crime scene and found the deceased lying in pool of blood.

He said the Police took the body to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital for preservation and also for doctors to perform autopsy on it.

Meanwhile, some nomadic herdsmen have threatened to take the law into their own hands should the police fail to bring the offenders to book.
