Twelve people have been left in critical condition after an accident involving three vehicles on the Winneba–Mankessim stretch of the N1 Highway at Gomoa Amenfi in the Central Region.
Victims of the crash involving a Toyota Voxy, a Nissan Altima and a Hyundai Elantra, were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for emergency medical care.
A report by citinewsroom.com on February 5, 2026, indicated that the Toyota Voxy, with registration number GN 9883-25, collided head-on with a Nissan Altima with registration number GW 1895-09.
The report explained that the accident occurred as a result of a wrongful overtaking by the driver of the Toyota Voxy, which led to the head-on collision with the Nissan Altima.
Moments after the initial impact, a Hyundai Elantra with registration number GR 1972-15 rammed into the rear of the Toyota Voxy.
All seven passengers aboard the Toyota Voxy, including the driver, sustained life-threatening injuries, while four occupants of the Nissan Altima also suffered varying degrees of injury from the crash.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service stationed at Apam responded promptly to the incident and assisted in transporting all 12 injured persons to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
