12 Sex Slaves Brought Back From Gambia

Twelve Ghanaian girls who were trafficked to Gambia, have been repatriated home.

Aged between 12 and 17, the girls were among hundreds of Ghanaian children trafficked to The Gambia, most of whom are being used for prostitution.

The girls had lived in that country for an average of four years without relatives and official papers.

They were brought back at the weekend on a Ghana Airways west coast flight in a joint exercise undertaken by the Ghana police, Ministry of Women and Children?s Affairs and their Gambian counterparts.

An official source said all the girls, currently in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare hail from the Central Region.
