10 dismissed ADB staff sue company

Ten staff of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) have sued the bank at an Accra High Court challenging their dismissal and are demanding Gh¢1.5 million compensation.

The 10 were accused of concealing information about a bounced cheque which violates the bank’s regulations.

They are seeking an order restraining management of ADB from dealing with their bank accounts with intent to changing the terms of loans advance to nine of them.

They also want the bank to compensate them with Gh¢150, 000 each for the embarrassment caused them plus an apology in the newspaper within 14 days.

Among the reliefs being sought by the plaintiffs against the defendant are a declaration that plaintiffs did not by their alleged conduct breach the BOG Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2005/5, a declaration that the purported disciplinary proceedings, the purported consideration by the executive committee and review by the board of directors were irregular and in violation of the rules of natural justice and a declaration that the results of the purported disciplinary proceedings and any actions based on same are null, void and of no effect.

They are also seeking a compensation of seven years gross salary for wrongful dismissal to each plaintiff.
