The Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, Ndan Ya-Naa Abukari Mahama II, has made a passionate appeal to the Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, to cast off any feelings of guilt regarding the recent road accident involving the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

The Ya-Naa’s message was delivered by a high-powered delegation of Dagbon traditional rulers who paid a courtesy call to the national headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana in Accra on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The delegation, led by the Paramount Chief of Zangbalun, Naa Dr Yakubu Mahama, included the Paramount Chief of Lamashegu, Naa Bapre Mohammed Iddrisu; the Nba Wal at the Gbewaa Palace and the Secretary to the Ya-Naa, Alhaji Abdul Rahman Mohammed.

The visit was prompted by reports that the Ameer had been carrying a heavy emotional burden since February 12, 2026, when the Minister of Education was involved in a serious road accident while travelling to attend the inauguration of an educational institution at the Ameer’s invitation.

Delivering the King’s message, the delegation urged the Ameer to find peace in his faith.

“Accidents are from Allah, not from invitations,” the message stated, citing Surah Al-Hadid (57:22).

“What happened to the Minister was written in Allah’s decree. If Allah had not willed it, the Minister could have travelled that road a thousand times without incident.”

The Ya-Naa emphasised that the invitation was rooted in a noble purpose the advancement of education in Ghana.

He described the institution as a house of learning that continues to benefit countless young people.

“This is blessed work. How can an invitation to such goodness carry guilt?” the Overlord queried.

He further reassured the Ameer that the minister harbours no ill will or resentment.

The delegation had earlier visited the Minister at his private residence in Accra, where he is recovering, to convey the King’s commiserations.

“The minister himself bears you no ill will. He spoke of you with warmth and respect. He understands, as we all must, that life’s events are in Allah’s hands, not ours,” the message added.

The Ya-Naa concluded by expressing hope that the incident would not discourage the Ahmadiyya Mission from its critical work in community development or its engagement with government officials to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The delegation also included the Paramount Chief of Pishegu, Naa Bapre Alhassan Andani, and the Paramount Chief of Singu, Commissioner of Police Naa Yab Seidu Iddi. Several members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Northern Parliamentary Caucus were also present at the Minister’s residence to support the delegation.

The Ameer, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, who appeared visibly moved by the gesture, described the visit as “historic” in the annals of the Ahmadiyya Mission in Ghana.

“Honestly speaking, I really don’t know what to say,” he remarked. “I have been a deputy to my predecessors for so many years, and I know there has never been any such delegation to this office, not from the North or the South.”

He expressed profound gratitude to the Ya-Naa for the spiritual and emotional support, noting that the visit had significantly lifted his spirits.

Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih also eulogised Haruna Iddrisu, describing him as a leader whose qualities epitomise the traits of a true statesman.

According to the Ameer, he has always admired the minister’s demeanour, particularly his ability to blend political issues with the rich traditions of Northern Ghana, helping the rest of the country to better appreciate the region.

“I, for one, see Hon. Haruna as a future leader of Ghana in the not-too-distant future because he has all the qualities. So, I have been very particular about him,” he concluded.
