The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, graced Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations in South Africa on March 6, 2026.

According to footage shared by Asante Nation on X, a platform affiliated with Manhyia Palace, the Asante ruler was seen among members of Ghana’s delegation participating in the Independence Day festivities.

The video shared by Asante Nation was accompanied by the caption: “The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on March 6, 2026, joined the Ghanaian community in South Africa to participate in the 69th Independence of the Republic of Ghana.”

Otumfuo was seen arriving in a Rolls-Royce, accompanied by other vehicles, as he made his way to the celebration grounds.

Upon stepping out of his vehicle, he was dressed in traditional Kente cloth and exchanged pleasantries with dignitaries present before proceeding to the venue.

Meanwhile, Ghana also held its official Independence Day celebration at the Jubilee House in Accra, led by President John Dramani Mahama.

The occasion was graced by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Michael Drew, who attended as the Special Guest of Honour.
