Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against allowing corruption, impunity and what he describes as the President’s refusal to listen to public concerns to persist, warning that the party could pay an electoral price in the 2028 general elections.
Trump speaks after humiliating midterm election defeat
In a social media post on November 4, 2026, he cited the outcome of the US midterm elections and suggested that growing public dissatisfaction with a president could eventually affect the fortunes of the political party in power.
"If we don't STOP the gross impunity, corruption and intransigence in Ghana, same will happen in 2028," he wrote.
He argued that voters who become frustrated with the conduct of a sitting president could extend their anger to the president's political party at the polls.
"When the electorate gets very angry because of the intransigence of a particular president, the whole political party of the stubborn president suffers huge electoral defeat," he added.
His warning comes in the wake of the US midterm elections, in which President Donald Trump's Republican Party suffered a major setback after Democrats secured control of Congress.
The outcome means Trump will have to work with an opposition-controlled Congress for the remainder of his presidency.
