Following an earlier report that the chiefs and priests of the Ga Traditional Council had summoned a member of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s communications team, KOKA, new details have emerged.
In a recent development, a video has surfaced online in which KOKA claims that the press statement reportedly issued by the Ga Traditional Council is not authentic.
According to KOKA, he honoured the summons and appeared before the traditional authorities. However, after meeting with the chiefs, he was informed that they had not invited him.
Cocoa Crisis: Randy Abbey, top COCOBOD executives take salary cuts
“I saw on social media that the Ga Mantse had summoned me, so I printed the writ of summons and came here. I met the secretary, who then placed a call to the chief operations officer and the deputy protocol officer.
“The information I received was that the Ga Mantse had not invited me as stated. They said the letter is forged. I also want to emphasise that I did not intend to insult the Ga people,” he said.
Background
Recently, KOKA, in a video that surfaced online, questioned the decision by President John Dramani Mahama to appoint Dr Randy Abbey as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Ga chiefs summon KOKA over alleged tribalistic comments against Randy Abbey
In the video, KOKA argued that Randy Abbey does not deserve the position, claiming that he lacks knowledge and understanding of the cocoa sector.
“I want to ask you, Randy Abbey, who is a Ga, what does cocoa have to do with him? His own is kenkey and pepper. Randy Abbey does not understand the cocoa sector. He doesn’t even know how it is planted, let alone how it is harvested,” KOKA stated.
