President John Dramani Mahama’s performance has received a 72% approval rating from Ghanaians, according to a new poll by Global InfoAnalytics.

The survey found that 21% of respondents were dissatisfied with the President’s performance, while seven percent did not express an opinion.

Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, disclosed the figures during an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

He said the rating was based on how respondents viewed President Mahama’s performance in his current term.

“This is based on his personal performance. Seventy-two percent of Ghanaians approved his performance. Twenty-one percent disapproved, and seven percent had no opinion. The approval for this term of his presidency is very high. People are cool with him,” he said.

The strongest support for the President was recorded in the Upper West Region, where 92% of respondents approved of his performance.

The Volta Region followed with 88 percent, while the Northern and Eastern regions recorded 72% and 71% respectively.

The Ashanti Region recorded the lowest approval rating among the regions mentioned, with 56%. The North East Region followed with 59%.

The survey, according to Mussa Dankwah, involved 7,700 completed interviews conducted between July 15 and 24, 2026.

It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points and will serve as the baseline for a tracking poll to be conducted periodically ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The poll also sought respondents’ views on the direction of the country with 60% stating that Ghana was moving in the right direction, while 28% believed the country was heading in the wrong direction.

Respondents were also asked about their standard of living compared with the previous year.

More than half, 53%, said their living conditions had improved, while 19% said theirs had become worse.
