President John Dramani Mahama has gifted the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, a brand-new sport utility vehicle (SUV), a gesture that has resonated widely during the Christmas season.

The vehicle was presented on the president’s behalf by Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Said Sinare.

In a video circulating on social media on December 25, 2025, the elderly Chief Imam is seen being gently assisted to sit in the driver’s seat of the new vehicle.

Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, who has served as National Chief Imam since 1993, is one of Ghana’s most revered religious leaders.

He is widely respected for his humility, wisdom and commitment to peace and has played a central role in promoting religious tolerance, national unity and social cohesion.

His influence and moral authority extend beyond the Muslim community, earning him admiration across the country.
