The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended the deadline for the payment of party dues to Tuesday, May 5, 2026, following widespread complaints about challenges with its online payment platform.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the decision was taken after “numerous reports of challenges encountered with the online dues payment platform.”
It assured members that steps are being taken to fix the problem, noting that “the IT Directorate is actively working to resolve the technical issues and ensure the system's full functionality.”
The extension is expected to ease pressure on members who risked missing the initial deadline due to the technical setbacks.
As an interim measure, the party directed all Polling Station Elections Committees not to disqualify any prospective candidate over inability to show proof of payment during this period.
According to the statement, “proof of payment of dues shall not constitute grounds for the disqualification of any prospective candidate during this period.”
However, the committees have been tasked to keep proper records of members’ payment status. The statement emphasised that “the Polling Station Elections Committees are required to record the names of those who have successfully paid their dues as well as those who are yet to pay their dues.”
The party further disclosed that the National Secretariat will publish a final list of eligible members ahead of the elections, stating that “the National Secretariat shall publish the list of all members who are in good standing and have fully paid their dues before the scheduled dates for the polling station elections.”
The directive is aimed at ensuring fairness and inclusivity in the party’s grassroots electoral process despite the technical challenges.
The NPP also appealed for patience from its members, expressing appreciation for their cooperation “as we work to address these challenges.”
