Parliament has reconvened for an emergency sitting today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following a recall by Speaker Alban Bagbin.

The sitting follows concerns over recent cocaine seizures involving consignments linked to Ghana, including a major seizure in France.

Lawmakers are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the seizures and assess Ghana’s systems for preventing the trafficking of illicit drugs.

The Minority has also called for a parliamentary inquiry into the seizures and the role of relevant state institutions.

The sitting is expected to allow lawmakers to seek answers from the appropriate authorities and demand accountability over the developments.
