The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of the key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who had been on the run.

In a social media post on November 1, 2026, the Police said the suspect had been arrested at his hideout.

“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated in the post.

The arrest follows the earlier detention of a 47-year-old woman in connection with the killing of two people at NTHC Estate, Sakumono.

The woman, identified as Beatrice Mumuni, is believed to have led the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, to the residence of the victims before the murders on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The victims have been identified as 57-year-old George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba.

In a statement dated October 30, the Police confirmed Mumuni’s arrest and announced that Osei Anto had been declared wanted to assist with investigations into the incident.

The development follows preliminary police findings suggesting that the killings may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving an alleged debt of GH¢500,000 owed by George Atuguba.

According to earlier police accounts, Osei Anto reportedly visited the victims’ residence with Mumuni to demand repayment of the money.

A misunderstanding allegedly ensued, during which the suspect reportedly shot and killed the two victims.

The victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The Police had earlier offered a GH¢100,000 reward to anyone who provided credible information leading to Osei Anto’s arrest.
