Member of Parliament for the Ketu North Constituency, Eric Edem Agbana, has mourned the death of University of Cape Coast (UCC) student Innocentia Avinu, describing her passing as a painful loss to her family and loved ones.

Agbana said he attended the funeral service and burial of the Level 200 student at St Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Dzodze.

In a post on his Facebook page, he said the death of the young student was particularly painful because she was not only a family friend but also a beneficiary of his scholarship scheme.

“This one is particularly painful for me because Innocentia was not just a young and promising Level 200 student of the University of Cape Coast; she was also a family friend and a scholar under our scholarship scheme,” he wrote.

He said her death under what he described as “tragic and deeply disturbing circumstances” had left an “indescribable void.”

Agbana noted that Innocentia had a promising future ahead of her, making her death difficult for those who knew her to come to terms with.

“It is difficult to accept that a young lady with so much promise, dreams and a bright future ahead of her is no longer with us,” he said.

He extended his condolences to the Avinu family, particularly the deceased’s parents and siblings, and prayed for strength for them to cope with the loss.

“My heart goes out to the Avinu family, especially her parents and siblings. May God give them the strength to endure this unbearable loss,” he added.

Agbana concluded his tribute by praying for the deceased to find eternal rest.

“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Forever in our hearts,” he wrote.
