Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center and a former presidential candidate, has disclosed that he celebrated the defeat of Kennedy Agyapong in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership race by popping champagne.
According to the clergyman, he was overwhelmed with joy after the outcome of the election and even prayed for the delegates who voted against Agyapong.
He maintained that the former Assin Central MP lacks the moral and leadership qualities required to lead a political party, let alone govern the country as president.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Kyiri Abosom criticised Agyapong’s conduct during the campaign, describing it as unpresidential and unbecoming of a statesman.
He questioned how a political aspirant who publicly accused his own party members of corruption and dishonesty could expect their support.
“I popped champagne after Kennedy Agyapong lost the presidential primary. I was filled with joy and prayed for all those who voted against him.
"He went about describing his own party members as corrupt and thieves. Kennedy Agyapong is not someone fit to be elected as a candidate, let alone a president. He even described the members as senseless, yet he wanted them to elect him to represent them.”
Osofo Kyiri Abosom further commended the NPP delegates for their decision, saying it demonstrated wisdom and maturity on their part.
“The delegates of the party have done very well, and I commend them for voting against him. He should learn lessons from what has happened. He will certainly go into retirement from political activities.”
