A woman at the centre of a viral video involving alleged staff of Bills Micro Credit has denied claims that she fell on her own during the confrontation, insisting she was pushed while holding her eight-month-old baby.
Hagar Emmasey, speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, said the incident occurred when staff of the microcredit company visited her home over an outstanding loan balance.
“I didn’t fall by myself; one of the staff pushed me, and that was how I fell with my baby,” she said while recounting the events.
According to Emmasey, she has been taking loans from the company for about 15 years, with the most recent one being GH¢1,000, which she agreed to repay within 13 weeks.
She explained that she normally pays her instalments through mobile money vendors because she does not know how to make the transfers herself.
Emmasey said she had already paid most of the amount and had GH¢300 left to settle. She indicated that she handed the money to a mobile money vendor to send to the company.

However, after two weeks passed without any communication from the company, she assumed the payment had gone through successfully.
The situation escalated last Friday around 5 p.m. when some staff of the company allegedly arrived at her residence demanding payment of the outstanding amount.
She said she pleaded with them to allow her until Monday to follow up with the mobile money vendor to confirm whether the transaction had been completed.
Emmasey further alleged that during the confrontation, one of the staff members seized her mobile phone.
When she attempted to retrieve it, another staff member allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground while carrying her baby.
Following the incident, she reported the matter to the police and was issued a medical report to seek treatment at the Atomic Polyclinic.
Police have since begun investigations into the incident.
