Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that a revised curriculum for kindergarten to junior high school will soon be submitted to the government for approval.

According to him, the National Curriculum Review Agency (NACA) was tasked to review the existing basic education curriculum to make it more responsive to modern educational needs.

“Some of the most significant decisions we took as a government was to revise our education curriculum. The agency responsible, the National Curriculum Review Agency, was tasked to revise our education curriculum from kindergarten to junior high school,” he said this during the Government Accountability Series on July 20, 2026.

Haruna Iddrisu disclosed that the revised curriculum would be formally presented to the Ministry of Education on Wednesday July 23, 2026, before being forwarded to the President, Cabinet and Parliament for consideration.

He explained that the review is aimed at implementing a “Smart Start” curriculum that places greater emphasis on technology, science, engineering and mathematics.

“We have promised to introduce coding, electronics, artificial intelligence and TVET into the basic education curriculum,” Haruna Iddrisu added.

He said the changes are expected to equip Ghanaian learners with relevant skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
