The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has reaffirmed the Government of Ghana’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of national examinations.

He made the remarks during the 2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Distinction Awards ceremony held at the Sakyi Asare-Menako WAEC Hall in Cantonments.

“Examinations such as the WASSCE remain an essential mechanism for assessing learning outcomes and maintaining educational standards. They must therefore be conducted with the highest levels of integrity and fairness,” Dr Apaak said.

The Deputy Minister expressed concern over reports of examination malpractice, which he said undermines the credibility of the education system.

“Reports of impersonation, collusion, and the activities of so-called ‘miracle centres’ erode public confidence in our certificates. As a nation committed to excellence and integrity, we must collectively reject such practices,” he added.

Dr Apaak congratulated students who distinguished themselves in the 2025 WASSCE, emphasizing that their achievements were made possible through discipline, focus, and hard work.

“Your success today is a testament to the countless hours of study, the sacrifices you have made, and the support you have received from teachers, parents, and mentors,” he said.

He also highlighted the critical role of educators and parents in nurturing young talent.

“Your dedication to guiding these students has been instrumental in their success. On behalf of the Ministry of Education and the Government of Ghana, I commend you for your invaluable contribution to shaping the future of our nation,” Dr Apaak stated.

The Deputy Minister urged students to remain focused, humble, and committed to the values of integrity as they advance academically and professionally.

He further praised WAEC for upholding high examination standards across the sub-region and pledged the Ministry’s continued support to strengthen the credibility and effectiveness of the country’s examination system.
