National Chairperson of the People's National Party (PNP), Janet Asana Nabla, has called on the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, to urgently address the persistent telecommunications network challenges affecting Ghanaians.

Speaking on Joy Prime on May 19, 2026, Janet Nabla recounted how poor network connectivity recently disrupted her communication with her lawyer ahead of a court appearance.

“Look, you see today I have a court case. My lawyer told me that he has called me, but he couldn’t connect due to network issues,” she revealed.

According to her, the situation became so frustrating that she had to remain awake until 3 am on Sunday waiting for important information because communication difficulties delayed the exchange.

“In fact, the day before yesterday, that was on Sunday, I had to stay all night up to three o’clock in the morning because the information I was supposed to get, he couldn’t tell me due to bad network,” she explained.

She added that the network problems are affecting people across all political affiliations and should not be treated as a partisan concern.

“So, the network issues, they are not affecting NPP. They are affecting NPP, NDC, PNP. They are affecting everyone in the country,” she said.

Janet Nabla stressed that when citizens raise concerns about poor connectivity, the Communications Minister must take the complaints seriously.

“So, when people are having network issues and they are trying to address it with a minister who is in charge of communication, you will have to listen,” she noted.

The PNP leader also singled out Telecel Ghana, claiming many subscribers have become frustrated with the service due to difficulties in connecting calls to other networks.

“In fact, people don’t use Telecel anymore. Do you know when you use Telecel and call MTN, it will not go? If you use Telecel and call any network, it doesn’t go,” she alleged.

She warned that persistent telecommunications challenges could negatively affect the economy, particularly as many Ghanaians now depend heavily on internet connectivity and digital platforms for business and income generation.

“Truth be told, there’s a problem with our network system and the network is our economy. A lot of people are now using network for everything. We have our TikTokers, we have people using that network to make income,” she stated.
