In an interview with GhanaWeb's Mandy Agyemang on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, she explained that the police would rather be over-prepared than under-prepared when it comes to maintaining law and order.
“As an institution, we believe in erring on the side of caution rather than allowing things to chance. It’s better for us to come over-prepared than under-prepared,” she stated.
Superintendent Obeng noted that the police presence has “saturated” the entire area, adding that officers are not only deployed to safeguard voters but also to protect residents and individuals conducting business or engaging in other activities within the constituency.

“We are not only here to protect voters. We are also here to protect people who are not coming to vote but are going about their normal duties.
“So far, we haven’t received any major incidents. We are hoping the day will continue just as we expected,” she added.
The Service has maintained that its primary objective remains ensuring peace, security, and the smooth conduct of activities within the constituency.
More than 40,000 registered voters in Ayawaso East are voting to elect a new Member of Parliament.
The by-election followed the death of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, in January 2026.
The New Patriotic Party selected Baba Ali as its candidate, while the National Democratic Congress picked former High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal, to contest the seat.
The Electoral Commission has assured residents of a smooth and orderly voting process.
