The Majority Leader in Parliament cum Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has rejected what he described as ‘weekly attempts by the opposition to manufacture scandals against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.’
This follows allegations by the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, who claimed that the Ministry of the Interior contracted a private software developer to create a platform for processing AI-generated aptitude questions for potential recruits into various security agencies, reportedly involving a senior government official.

He warned that such efforts would not be tolerated from the opposition.
The lawmaker made this known during parliamentary proceedings on March 3, 2026.
“Mr Speaker, the attempt to scandalise this government will not happen because some people every week register a scandal, they must create scandals for the NDC government,” he said.
Reacting to the allegations, Mahama Ayariga accused the caucus of attempting to manufacture scandals against the government.
He insisted that the government has zero tolerance for misconduct and called for transparency in cases where ministers might have conflicts of interest.
“Even where there is no scandal, they want to manufacture a scandal. If indeed a minister or a senior NDC person has any interest in the company that is providing the service, we want to hear it, we want to know that minister, so that we will take action against that minister, because this president has promised that any minister who is involved in a scandal, he will remove that minister,” he stated.
Ayariga also pointed to historical precedents, noting that the company at the center of the controversy was previously engaged by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to provide the same service in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021.
“We have records that show that in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, the same company was engaged by the NPP government to provide the same service,” he concluded.
Background
The Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin first raised concerns about the ongoing recruitment exercise using the AI-powered platform for aptitude testing on February 26, 2026.
He highlighted difficulties for prospective recruits, particularly those in areas with limited internet access, and has since expressed his intention to pursue the matter further.
He also suggested a conflict of interest and criminality in the deployment of the Tribe Net platform, warning that an unnamed Mahama appointee - a woman, could face imprisonment in the future.
“The person behind Tribe Net, who has been duping innocent Ghanaians, will be exposed. We know her, and very soon, she will be exposed,” the Minority Leader threatened in Parliament, in the presence of President John Dramani Mahama, on Friday, during the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The Effutu MP noted that under the arrangement, applicants are not answering questions based on their prospective fields.

“The entire process is now centralised at the Ministry of Interior, a private software developer has been tasked to create a data collection platform which is empowered to run the process through the use of AI-generated aptitude examination with minimal visible involvement of institutional leadership of the affected services,” he alleged.
Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, says opposition attempts to create non-existent scandals to tarnish the government’s image will not succeed.
