Tension erupted at Jubilee House on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as demonstrators staging the ‘Aaagbe Wɔ Demo’ clashed with police officers who prevented them from using the main entrance to the seat of government.

The protesters, organised by the Ga-Dangme Progressive Front, were demonstrating against the demolition of structures at La Pleasure Beach and the displacement of businesses and livelihoods in affected Ga-Dangme communities.

The situation became tense when police officers stopped the demonstrators from accessing the main entrance, triggering a confrontation as the protesters insisted on using the entrance.

One of the demonstrators was heard expressing anger over the police action, insisting that they would not use a back entrance to access the premises.

“Why do you want us to pass back door, we will force our way out. We want justice, we want democracy, we won’t pass through the back door today or tomorrow. We will sleep here until we are allowed to use the main entrance,” the protester said.

The demonstration, dubbed “Aaagbe Wɔ Demo,” was organised to draw the government’s attention to the impact of the demolitions on business owners and residents, particularly those operating at La Pleasure Beach and surrounding areas.

The protesters are demanding attention to their concerns over the loss of livelihoods and displacement resulting from the demolition exercises.
