Gomoa Central Member of Parliament Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has explained his reasons for his recent attacks on National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah over his reported presidential ambitions.

According to A Plus, before he became an MP for his constituency, Asiedu Nketiah led a convoy to the area to campaign against him.

He further alleged that Asiedu Nketiah tarnished his image by telling constituents not to vote for him because, if elected, he would use his position to have sexual relationships with their girlfriends and other women in the community.

A Plus said the alleged comments hurt him, adding that he now intends to retaliate before eventually reconciling with Asiedu Nketiah.

Speaking in a video he recorded and shared on social media, A Plus said, "When he came to the constituency, he said, don't vote for A Plus because, when you vote for him, he will sleep with your girls.

“So, for you to say these things about me and think I won't do the same to you, your time has come. Keep quiet and let me do you some," he said.

It may be recalled that in a statement, A Plus challenged Asiedu Nketiah to explain why his home region continues to struggle with underdevelopment despite its abundance of natural resources.

“You were in politics long before all this Dubai business began. Your own region, blessed with gold, timber, fertile soil and enormous natural resources, continues to struggle with underdevelopment,” he wrote.

The MP also questioned whether Ghanaians should elect another elderly president, arguing that Asiedu Nketiah would be 72 by the time he was inaugurated in 2029 if he won the presidency.

“Now, you are 69. By the time you are inaugurated in 2029, you will be 72! And if you are President for two terms like Okukuseku, you’ll leave office at 80. Ah! What did we do to deserve this?” he asked.

A Plus further argued that the presidency should not be treated as a reward for years spent in politics.

“The presidency is not a retirement package or a reward for spending decades in politics engaging in sarcasm. It is a solemn responsibility that demands vision, leadership, accountability, and measurable results,” he stated.

He also warned against the possibility of a future administration being embroiled in controversies similar to those that characterised the government of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Defending his own record as Gomoa Central MP, A Plus dismissed potential criticism from Asiedu Nketiah’s supporters, claiming he had achieved more in less than two years in office.

“I’ve been in office for less than two years but have achieved more than this man,” he claimed.
