Sumaila denies TP Mazembe move

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has denied local media reports suggesting he will swerve Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko to sign for Congolese giants TP Mazembe.

The 21-year-old has confirmed to GHANAsoccernet.com he will arrive in Accra next Wednesday to finalise his one-season loan move to Kotoko.

“I will be in Ghana next week Wednesday to complete my return to Kotoko,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

Accra-based Happy FM on Thursday morning claim the Mamelodi Sundowns defender who was in the Ghana squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup would swerve Kotoko to join DR Congo giants Mazembe.

Rashid joined Sundowns two seasons ago from Ghanaian side Ebusua Dwarfs after completing a season’s loan spell with Kotoko but could not nail down a regular spot at the club and has been left out of their squad for the South African Absa Premier League season.

His reported move to Moroka Swallows also broke down due to documentation.
