Matthew joined Vittese straight from secondary school -Saint Augustines College - in Ghana, after being spotted by an agent during a youth tournament in Ghana.
Then Vittesse coach, the former Holland and Barcelona star Ronald Koeman loaned him out to Fortuna Sittard for first team experience. He scored eleven goals as Sittard battled relegation. Koeman promptly went back for Amoah who emerged Arnheim's top scorer that season.
Amoah was a member of Ghana's youth side that reached the quater finals of the African Nations Cup in Mali.
June 2007: Matthew Amoah will return to the Dutch Eredivisie as NAC Breda agree a deal to sign the striker from Borussia Dortmund. The former Vitesse Arnhem forward is leaving Dortmund after spending 18 months in the Bundesliga. Jan 2016: Veteran Ghanaian striker Matthew Amoah has joined Dutch amateur side VV Baronie .
The 35-year-old signed a six-month contract with the club on Sunday to help them rise to the top tiers of the leagues in Holland, Ghana's leading football new outfit can confirm.
