Born in Walthamstow, London and qualified to play for both Nigeria and Ghana due to the nationality of his parents, but chose to play for Ghana.

He scored after three minutes in his debut for Ghana against Nigeria in Abuja on 30 May 2003 in the LG Tournament, although Nigeria came back to win the match 3-1.

Signed for Wimbledon on 01/07/1999. A Product of the Wimbledon youth policy. After setting tongues wagging with a series of exciting performances during the 2000/01 season, Agyemang found himself playing second fiddle to the partnership of David Connolly and Neil Shipperley for much of 2001/02.

Moved to Preston North End from Gillingham in November 2004 in a deal worth £300,000 and was a popular figure at Deepdale despite injury curtailing the majority of his 2006/07 campaign.

Joined Championship rivals QPR for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half-year contract in January 2007
