Hearts fulfil promise to players

Accra, Aug 29, GNA - The Management Board of Accra Hearts of Sporting Club last Friday fulfilled its promise of giving 50,000 dollars it made to the playing body for winning the 2004 Confederation Cup competition.

Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of the Club in a statement copied to the GNA Sports said the amounts paid to the players ranges from 18 million cedis to 150 million cedis depending on the number of matches each player engaged in.

He said even though the Club is still awaiting response from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) on its balance of almost 145,000 dollars from the total prise money of 300,000 dollars, the Club was committed to honouring its obligation.

Mr Tettey-Oku said the Club has been able to honour its promise from revenue generated elsewhere other than the said competition.

Hearts were shown an early exit from this years continental competition as a result of reported player revolt over unpaid bonuses.

It was alleged that Management of the Club also failed to fulfil a promise it made to the playing body ahead of the final CAF match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko, which the team won on penalties after two all drawn games in the two leg final match played this year.
