Kingson and co are playing for ‘free’- Pappoe

The Board Chairman of Accra Great Olympics Fred Pappoe says the notion that players who return from abroad and want to play in the premier league are ‘expensive’ is false.

Great Olympics have become the toast of most football fans in Ghana after they acquired the services of ex- Ghana internationals Dan Quaye, Richard Kingson and Godwin Attram.

On Sunday, April 26, Accra Great Olympics held Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw game at the Accra stadium in what has been described by many as an exciting game.

Many ex-Ghana internationals are struggling in Europe and other parts of the world with their careers and have always been advised to come home to resuscitate their careers but the argument by many clubs in Ghana is that these players make outrageous demands which most clubs cannot meet.

But speaking to Accra-based Happy FM, Fred Pappoe said Olympics have been fortunate because the likes of Kingson and Attram are literally playing for free.

“They are not expensive as people think. The truth is that some of these players are already well to do and realistically we (the clubs) cannot pay them. They understand but are willing to play and help because of their love for the club and the game.”
