Ghanaian players abroad

FRANCE

Both Ayew brothers again played 90 minutes and for the second straight week, both scored again for Olympique Marseille in their 2-2 draw at Rennes who of course had John Boye absent on Africa Cup duty with the Black Stars.

Elsewhere, Ishmael Yartey couldn’t even make the bench for Sochaux who lost 2-0 at Montpellier. In the Ligue 2, Haminu Dramani was absent for Arles Avignon in their 0-2 loss at Angers whilst dennis Appiah warmed the bench for AS Monaco who drew 2-2 against Guigamp.

ITALY

Kevin Prince Boateng played all 90 minutes but Sulley Muntari was only a benchwarmer for Milan who won 1-0 at Atalanta.

Isaac Coffie played the entire duration whilst 18 year old compatriot Caleb Ekuban made the bench for the first time ever for Chievo Verona as they won impressively, 1-0 at Lazio but Amidu Salifu was only on the bench for Catania in their 2-1 victory over Fiorentina.

In Serie B, Yussif Raman Chibsah came on as a 90th minutes substitute for Sassuolo who lost 1-2 at Crotone who didn’t feature Parma loanee Bright Addae. .Yaw Asante was an unused substitute for Grosseto in their 3-1 win over Citadella.

AC Milan loanee Edmund EtseHottor was completely absent for Virtus Lanciano in their 2-1 win at Varese but MasahuduAlhassan played all 90 minutes but compatriot Ahmed Apimah Barruso was not even on the bench for Novara as they won 2-0 at Empoli.

ENGLAND

Emmanuel Frimpong was late to make it for new loan club, Fulham’s 4-1 FA Cup loss to Manchester United.

In the championship, PrinceBuaben again failed to make the Watford squad for their 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest whilst Bristol City, albeit without Albert Adomah beat Ipswich Town 2-1but Jeffrey Schulpp who is reportedly training at Manchester United, missed Leicester City’s 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in the FA Cup to force a replay.

In League 2, Andrew Yiadom played 84 minutes for Barnet who lost 1-0 at Burton Albion.

SPAIN

Michael Essien played all 90 minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick for Real Madrid who beat Getafe 4-0 whilst Manchester United loanee, Michael Abu started on the bench for Rayo Vallecano against real Bwas in imetis.

GERMANY

Ghana-pursuit Karim Bellarabi, born to a Ghanaian father and Moroccan mother in Berlin and who has played for Germany at U-21 levelwas absent for Bayer Leverkusen in their 0-0 draw at Freiburg.

18 year old Abdul Rahman Baba played all 90 minutes for Greuther Furth but could not help them avoid a 0-3 home loss to Mainz which keeps them bottom of Bundesliga.

Teenage international, Afriyie Acquah was on the bench for 2nd from bottom, Hoffeinheim in their 2-1 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt after making the switch from Italy in midweek.

BELGIUM

Daniel Opare returned from a 3-month injury layoff on the bench for Standard Liege in their 2-0 victory over Kortrijkt.

Abdul-Yajinu Iddi scored again, this time in injury time to power Mechelen to a 2-1 win over Genk who had Bernard Yao Kumordzi on the bench whilst Rahim Ayew and Richard Ofori both featured for 90 minutes in Lierse’s 0-2 loss at Zulte-Waregem.

HOLLAND

Kwame Quansah lasted all game for Almelo Heracles lost 5-1 at home to PSV who had Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Memphis Depayon the bench.

Elsewhere, Nana Kwesi Asare played all 90 minutes for Utrecht in their 3-1 over Willem II, but Mattew Amoah’s statistics since joining Heerenveen at the beginning of the season remains played zero, scored zero after again missing their 1-1 draw at PFC Zwolle for who Fred Benson played 65 minutes.

CYPRUS

Former Ghana goal king, Shaibu Yakubu played all 90 minutes for Enosis who drew 0-0at Appollon but Carlos Ohene’sAlki host Doxa on Monday.
