Screening begins as MTN Soccer Academy

6- Skuulz Challenge gets underway…

Screening of
participants for this year’s MTN Soccer Academy 6- Skuulz Challenge, has begun
in earnest at the St Thomas Aquinas School Park in Accra.
The exercise, which is expected to last for two days, will
see the screening of about 1,200 footballers from a number of the country’s
Senior High Schools, Polytechnics, Universities and other second cycle and
tertiary institutions.

This year’s Soccer Academy has taken on a much different
twist from previous editions with the primary focus now on students in the
second cycle institutions.
According to Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, Managing Director of
Optimum Media Prime [OMP], organizers of the event, the shift to the
educational institutions this year was because “we believe that in keeping with
our vision of unearthing young talents in the country, the educational
institutions present a perfect opportunity in this regard, hence our decision
to dedicate this year’s Soccer Academy to our schools.”
Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe further encouraged Heads of Schools and
parents to take advantage of this year’s Soccer Reality Show as it presents
both the players and their respective schools and parents with a “life-changing
experience.”
He revealed that recognizing the sacrifices that the schools
and the selected footballers would need to be an active part of the Soccer
Reality Show, OMP have put together a compelling Reward Package for both the
players and their respective schools.
He indicated that the winner of this year’s MTN Soccer Academy-Skuulz Challenge,
would receive a brand new car, training tour and trial with selected foreign
and local topflight clubs leading to probable engagement by Clubs. He also
revealed a very strong probability of the acquisition of scholarship for Top
Footballers
from the MTN Soccer Academy as part of the prize package, depending on the
academic levels of the selected students.
Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe again mentioned that the winner’s
school would also receive a brand new car, 15-minute documentary to
project the school both locally and internationally, as well as very strong prospects
of the establishment of a Scholarship Scheme to cater for selected
exceptionally talented Footballers of the school who might have financial
challenges.
The Top 25 footballers who are able to successfully progress
through the different stages of the two-day screening will then qualify to the
next phase of the Screening Exercise.
Mr. Armstrong-Mortagbe admonished both players and their schools
not only to relish their winning the overall prize package, but also see their
participation as an opportunity for greater doors that could open for them.
With obviously much higher stakes this year, patrons of the
MTN Soccer Academy can no doubt expect a more thrilling experience in a magnificent
blend of great football prowess and entertainment.
