Disciplinary Committee fines Kotoko and players GH¢14,000

Asante Kotoko FC who were charged for failing to control their three players and fans after their match-day 3 drawn game at home to Heart of Lions on October 21, have been hit with a combined fine of GH¢14,000 by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association, footy-Ghana.com can exclusively reveal.

After a hearing last week the Disiplinary Committee has fined players Soulama Abdoulaye, Kwabena Adusei and Ransford Osei GH¢3,000 each for rushing on referee Sumaila Ibrahim after the final whistle which incited the supporters to throw stones and evepure water bottles on them.

Asante Kotoko has also been hit with a GH¢5,000 fine for failing to control their supporters. The club’s fans kept the match officials hostage for five minutes on the field and an hour after the match and also prevented them from entering the dressing room.

Fans of the home side were furious with Sumaila Ibrahim’s decision to award a late penalty to Lions which was converted by Eric Nyarko to earn the visitors a 1-1 draw.
