Jonathan Mensah wants to fight for a place in the Udinese team By Akyereko Frimpong-Manson
Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah is on his way back to Italian side Udinese after completing a second loan deal at Spanish Segunda side Granada FC.
Mensah, who turns 21 next month, was signed by Udinese from South African side Free State Stars in 2009 but was farmed out to Spanish second tier side.
Les Zebrettes coach Francesco Guidolin has reportedly demanded to assess the performance of the enterprising centre-back for his Uefa Champions League and domestic campaigns next season.
Mensah told GHANAsoccernet.com he will for a place at the Stadio Friuli on his return.
βItβs my mother club. They sent me on loan and the deal has expired so automatically I have to return to the club. But I think I will have to prove to the coach that I can do it and remain in the team,β he said.
Mensah made 15 appearances for Granada FC and scored one goal.
He played at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals.
