REPRESENTATIVES of the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) may have arrived Lome, Togo to spy on the Super Eagles' camp. Super Eagles are billed to play Ghana Black Stars in Kumasi on Sunday.
According to one of the Super Eagles' private bodyguards who was in the advance party to Lome ahead of the players, a number of strange faces suspected to be Ghanaians, made enquires about the players at the Palm Beach Hotel camp of the Super Eagles.
"We are aware that the Ghanaians are already in Lome to spy on our team. We intend to take all necessary security measures towards ensuring that their mission shall not succeed," one of the bodyguards who returned to Lagos said yesterday.
Ghana and Togo, both West African countries, share a common border.
According to the bodyguard, security representatives of the outfit who are billed to return to Lome, Togo tomorrow morning, have promised to build a tight security network around the Super Eagles and the technical crew during the training sessions as one of the measures to be taken.
"The training grounds, and the hotel will be combed for strange faces. Whoever has no business hanging around would surely be sent packing", he disclosed.
After camping, the Eagles will leave for Ghana with the security personnel in two 48-seater Marcopolo buses.
The Eagles were said to have contacted the use of the security outfit to accompany the team to Togo and Ghana due to the important nature of the match.
"They (the players) realise how important this match is. They know that they will need full concentration. This is why they have gone out of their way to pay for the security outfit services", the source explained.
