Black Meteors defender, Edward Sarpong has called for support from Ghanaians ahead of their U23 Africa Cup of Nations semifinals clash with Cote d'ivoire.

Ghana seeks to pick one of the three slots reserved for Africa for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as they take on West African rivals Cote d'ivoire on Tuesday.

And ahead of the game, Sarpong in an interview says he and his colleagues are ready for the task ahead and is hopeful they can beat their opponent to reach the final of the competition and subsequently qualify for the Olympics which has been their prime motive.

"We are highly motivated and ever ready for Cote d'ivoire. We will do our possible best and make sure that Ghana qualifiers ahead of our opponent" he said.

He then called on Ghanaians rally behind the team in prayers as they eyes Olympics qualification.

The last time Meteors took part in the Olympics was back in 2004 in Athens, Greece.

Black Meteors will take on Cote d'ivoire at 2pm in the first semifinals encounter.
