Gossip/Transfers: Mensah To QPR, Boateng to WBA?

MAY

  • Derek Boateng is attracting interest from West Bromwich Albion according to Express and Star. The 28-year old, currently with Spanish club Getafe, is believed to be a target for Baggies boss Roy Hodgson. Boateng, who is also being tracked by Valencia, Villarreal and Paris Saint-Germain, joined Getafe in 2009 from German club FC Cologne. He has also previously played for Kalamata, Panathinaikos, OFI Crete, AIK and Beitur Jerusalem.

  • The Daily mail is reporting that QPR is chasing central defender John Mensah, who has been released from his loan deal at Sunderland. The Ghana captain has returned to Lyon. QPR could take the giant defender back to London in another loan deal.

  • The following players are out of contract and will not be offered a new contract by their current clubs: Stephen Appiah (Cesana, Italy), John Paintsil (Fulham, England), Richard Kingston (Blackpool, England), Quincy Abieye (Malaga, Spain), Prince Buaben (Dundee, Scotland)

  • The names of Udinese's Kwadwo Asamoah has been mentioned as a possible AC Milan target while Kevin Prince Boateng is expected to tie up a permanent deal after impressing while on loan from Genoa.

  • AC Milan have made Michael Essien their main transfer target this summer despite his agent insisting the midfielder will stay at Chelsea.

  • Fulham boss Mark Hughes has announced fullback John Pantsil will be leaving. The Ghana international comes off contract next month and has lost his first-choice status this season. "The likelihood is that John Pantsil will leave the club. We are trying to freshen up the squad and the view is that we can look at other alternatives," Hughes said after their draw with Arsenal.

  • Spanish side Getafe have turned down an offer of US$8m from Aston Villa for Derek Boateng. Getafe are expecting a fresh offer from Aston Villa. The Spanish club have valued their influential player at US$13m after the midfielder excelled in his 18 months at the club. Boateng, 28, said: “I want to play in the Premier League.” Boateng was named Getafe’s best player last season by the club’s supporters.

  • John Boye will have more first team opportunities with Stade Rennes after penning a contract extension at the club.

  • Olympique Marseille winger Andre Ayew is interesting Liverpool. Ayew insists he's happy at Marseille, though admits the interest of clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona "is flattering".

  • Ex-Ghana defender Habib Mohammed says he is close to agreeing a deal to join Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea next season. The 27-year-old has returned home following the expiration of a two-year- contract with Egyptian side Smouha FC.

  • Tottenham Hotspur and Everton FC are said to be on alert regarding news that current Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari will not be extending his loan period at Sunderland due to the player being “too expensive”.

  • SPURS are weighing up a shock summer swoop for Sunderland's Ghana ace Asamoah Gyan.

APRIL

  • (intereconomianosports) -- Barcelona are poised to make a move for Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew, Spanish radio station Intereconomiano has reported that the club is in talks with the wizz kid. The 21-year-old Ghana international has been lighting up the French league this season putting his club up the league table. He has already attracted interest from several English and German clubs as well as a host of Italian giants.

    Apparently FC Barcelona manager Josep "Pep" Guardiola sees Andre Ayew as a young Xavi Hernandez after he impressed for Ghana in last year’s World Cup, and again in last week’s hat trick he delivered for Olympic Marseille.

  • SPURS are weighing up a shock summer swoop for Sunderland's Ghana ace Asamoah Gyan.

  • Daniel Opare, a 20-year-old who can play at either right-back or left-back, joined Standard Liège from Real Madrid Castilla – the reserve club of the Spanish giants – a year ago and is now attracting attention from several clubs across Europe.
    Lyon, Lille, Wolfsburg and Spartak Moscow have joined Sunderland in being interested in a player whom Liège have valued at £7m but who is likely to be sold for something closer to £4m.
    Opare, a fast and overlapping full-back, received his first international call-up at 17 and was involved in Ghana's 1-1 draw against England at Wembley last month.

  • Greek top flight side PAOK Thessaloniki are planning a move for striker Kofi Nti Boakye. PAOK have been following the exploits of the former Ghana youth international in the United Arab Emirates where he has notched 14 goals in the season

  • FC Cologne is apparently interested in Bennard Yao Kumordzi (Panionios, Greece)

  • Afriyie Acquah has extended his contract with Palermo 'til 2016

  • FC Schalke 04 is interested in Isaac Vorsah

  • John Boye is in talks with Rennes about a new contract. The current one expires at the end of this season.

  • April 14: Marseille youngster Andre Ayew has emerged in a latest transfer link to German side Bayern Munich.
    Bayern are in the market for attacking reinforcements to provide some cover for the injury prone Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben and sporting director Christian Nerlinger considers Ayew to be a suitable addition to the FCB front line.
    Bayern face stiff competition in the race for Ayew’s signature though. The winger, whose contract runs until 2014, has also been linked with Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal.

  • Ghana Premier League sides Asante Kotoko and Medeama are in line to secure the signature of striker Saddick Adams after the player expressed desire to play in the league. The Ghana Under-23 attacker, on loan at Libyan club Al Hilal Benghazi, fled the country after fighting erupted there.

  • April 7 -- Bayern Munich have lined up Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan as their number one target during the summer and are willing to pay £12m for his signature.
    Reports in Germany suggest that Bayern have been keeping a close eye on his development this season and have been impressed with his performances for both club and country.
    Gyan has wasted no time settling into his new surrounding at Sunderland following his £13m move from Rennes last summer and has already scored 10 goals this season.
    Bayern Munich are hoping the attraction of playing in the Champions League will prove too much for Gyan and they can secure his signature at the end of the season.
    Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will be desperate to hold onto Gyan and would demand a sizeable fee for the prolific forward if he was to leave the Stadium of Light.

  • West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hogson is eyeing a reunion with Fulham defender John Paintsil at the Hawthorns. The People say Hogson could offer Paintsil a fresh start when his Fulham contract expires in June and Mark Hughes is not rushing to keep the 29 year old Ghana international.
    Paintsil who has expressed desire to leave Fulham at the end of the season after been axed from the first team to watching the game from the stands would be glad to reunite with his former boss when west Bromwich Albion survives.
    The right-back lost his place in manager Mark Hughes after a series of errors which saw him score a record equaling three own-goals in one season.

  • Laryea Kingston has completed his return to local side Hearts of Oak for the remainder of the season as a free agent.

March

  • March 31 -- Norwegian club Vålerenga has signed Isaac Boakye.

  • Getafe is looking for a striker. Candidates are Javi Guerra (Valladolid) & Matthew Amoah (NAC).

  • Marhc 15 --Liverpool are tracking Olympique Marseille wing-back Andre Ayew. Reds football chief Damien Comolli is following the Ghana international ahead of the summer market. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was also thought to be in the market for the player, with Arsene Wenger reportedly offering £5 million for the player's services. Liverpool lead the Barclays Premier League charge for the player's services now though, with Ayew one of a host of wingers linked with a move to Anfield.

  • Derek Boateng is among the two Getafe players being tracked by English side Fulham. According to reports in English newspapers Getafe’s duo Boateng and Miku are being observed by the Premier League side ahead of next season.

  • March 8 -- Liverpool’s reported quest to find a new holding midfielder appears to have led them to Udinese’s Kwadwo Asamoah. The Ghana international is also alleged to be on the radar of Manchester City and is said to be interesting Arsenal, as well as attracting the attention of clubs in Serie A.

  • Fiorentina and Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, according to the player's agent.

  • According to reports Manchester City are interested in Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah. It seems City boss Roberto Mancini remains keen on the 22 year-old Ghana international since he was in charge of Inter Milan. Asamoah is tied to Udinese until 2015 and is expected to attract a bid from City this summer. Udinese will not consider selling for anything less than £10 million.

  • Manchester United are poised to make a move for Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew. The Ghana international, 21, is regarded as one of the best wingers in the French League and has also attracted interest from Sampdoria and Schalke.

February

  • Feb 21 -- Russian giants CSKA Moscow are taking a keen interest in Udinese’s Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah. The Moscow-based club have scouted the 22-year-old on numerous occasions this season and believe he could soon develop into an outstanding talent. Asamoah would not come cheaply for CSKA however, with Udinese believed to have slapped a price-tag of at least €15M on the youngster’s head.

  • Opoku Agyemang has joined Qatari side Al-Ahli on a three months loan deal from Al Sadd.

  • Junior Agogo has started trials with Danish top flight Odense after recovering from a serious knee injury.

  • Seth Owusu has joined Polish side Legia Warszawa on trial.The Medeama Sporting Club left-back joined the club on their training camp in Costa Ballena, Spain last Sunday. The 22-year-old trialed out at French champions Olympique de Marseille last year but was not offered a contract.

  • Vancouver Whitecaps FC has signed Gershon Koffie. The 19-year-old played for Vancouver's USSF D-2 Pro League team.
    Koffie was signed as a homegrown player, which means his contract will not count against the team's salary cap. The midfielder was called up to Ghana's U-20 team last year.

  • Spain's Primera Division side Villarreal, nicknamed the "Yellow Submarine,'' signed Ghanian midfielder Wakaso Mubarak for the next two seasons.

  • Dominic Adiyiah has been unveiled as the latest player of Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade. His Italian club AC Milan accepted an offer to take the striker on loan for six months.

  • Feb 2 -- South Africa second-tier side Blackburn Rovers have snapped up Ghanaian defender Gabriel Appiah on loan from New Edubiase United. The 20-year-old moved to the Mdantsane-based side two months ago but his registration was confirmed on Wednesday.

  • Jan 30 -- Prince Tagoe has signed for Serbian outfit Partizan Belgrade for the remainder of the season. Tagoe moves from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim where he has suffered from limited playing time since joining two seasons ago.

  • Jan 29 -- Rosenborg midfielder Anthony Annan has joined Bundesliga side Schalke for two million euros.

  • Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Sulley Muntari on loan from Inter Milan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

  • Jan 24 -- FC Cologne are closing in on the signing of Prince Tagoe after agreeing an undisclosed fee for the player. The Hoffenheim striker wants more playing time and is ready for a pay-cut as well.

  • Luton Town have bolstered their attacking options by signing Lloyd Owusu until the end of the season.

  • Jan 23 --Sulley Muntari is set to join the Black Cats on loan today for the remainder of the season, says The Sun. Muntari’s agent Fabien Piveteau revealed: “If everything is sorted out with Sunderland he will be going there.

  • Ghana youth international Daniel Addo has completed a five-year deal with Ukrainian side FC Zorya Luhansk as a free agent. The former King Faisal centre-back finalized his move on the club’s winter-break training tour of Turkey.

  • Bashiru Gambo has joined German third division outfit Jahn Regensburg.

  • Jan 22 (Daily Mail) -- English side Stoke City have entered the race to sign striker Prince Tagoe from German side Hoffenheim.

  • Jan 20 (SUN) -- STANDARD LIEGE defender Daniel Opare, 20 - once a target for Liverpool - is now on Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United's radar.

  • Jan 15: Inter Milan have confirmed Sunderland target Sulley Muntari has handed in a transfer request at the San Siro.

  • Jan 14: Ibrahim ‘Rahim’ Ayew has reached an agreement on his personal terms to join Belgian side Lierse after impressing during their training tour of Egypt. He is expected to sign a deal next week. But the Belgian side will have to reach deal with his club Zamalek before Ayew can seal the move. Zamalek turned down a US$50,000 offer to grab Ayew but negotiations are still continuing Lierse are keen on grabbing the Ghanaian utility player.

  • The Seattle Sounders traded their way out of the first round of the United States Major League Soccer Super Draft waiting until the second round to take Michael Tetteh from UC Santa Barbara with the 20th overall pick and Southern Methodist's Juan Leone Cruz at No. 21.

  • Sevilla are expected to move quickly to tie up the signing of Anthony Annan from Norwegian giants Rosenborg this month. The Spanish side have already had an offer of €2M rejected by Rosenborg, with the Trondheim-based club believed to want at least €4M for the player.
