Itinerant preachers take advantage of Ghanaians - Rt. Rev. Buama

Ho, Nov. 22, GNA - The Right Reverend Dr Livingstone Buama, Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), has observed that people who preached on vehicles were taking advantage of the religious nature of Ghanaians.

He said such preachers were not trained and did not preach any doctrinally sound message to the people.

Speaking in an interview with the GNA on the phenomenon, Rt. Rev. Buama said such people "preach as if they have antidotes to all human problems". "As leaders of the flock of God, we have to discourage our members from such negative practice and be fair to the ignorant and less informed in society", he said. Elder Bright Doe, Ho Area Clerk of the Church of Pentecost, said preaching in vehicles was not bad in itself when it did not become a money making venture. Mr John K. Kpano, Chief Inspector of Police in Charge of the Volta Region Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), said the practice could divert the attention of drivers and lead to accidents. He blamed passengers for encouraging the practice and appealed to them to assist the Police to curb it.
