Mr Asiedu Agyemang, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Denkyira West has cut the sod for the construction of a new fire station at Diaso.
This is in fulfilment of a promise by the Assembly to provide the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in District with a befitting fire station for it to adequately and effectively discharge its duties.
Dunkwa-on-Offin Fire command before the establishment of a temporal fire station in the area in 2018 was serving the area, leading to the huge loss of property due to the distance and the bad nature of the road.
The new fire station would have ten offices, an appliance bay, washrooms, and a training square.
The DCE commended the personnel of the Service for their dedication and commitment to duty despite the limited infrastructure and resources.
DOI John Amarlai Amartey, the Central Regional FireCommander expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the initiative and said the nature of their work required constant training and drills which was not possible at their current location.
“Even the regimental duties cannot also be performed, therefore affecting the morale of personnel”, he said.
He praised the Diaso Fire command for their selfless dedication to duty amidst prevailing challenging conditions.
