Security measures for league announced

The Premier League Board (PLB) announces a new set of security actions for the Glo Premier League after reviewing the previous measures.

A press statement from the PLB office confirmed that latest set or modalities is to help curtail any acts of intimidation and harassment of visiting teams and match officials at league centres.

2009/2010 GLO PREMIER LEAGUE
SECURITY PRESENCE AT LEAGUE CENTRES

The Premier League Board has noted with much concern about the behaviour of followers of clubs at the various League Centres that supporters of clubs have resorted to all kinds of intimidation and harassment of visiting teams and officiating officials to enable them win their matches.

Having assessed the trend up to the 17th week, the PLB wishes to ease some of the operational difficulties in securing the services of the Police in some localities with the introduction of mandatory presence of a reasonable number of military at all centres.

In view of this, the Premier League Board has accordingly reviewed the security and medical arrangements of all categories of League matches as follows:

i. Category 'A' matches involving Hearts and Kotoko shall operate with the number of security and Para-medicals which have been in place so far,

ii. Category 'B' matches i.e. matches involving either Hearts or Kotoko and other clubs. The operational requirements will be as follows:

- Police personnel should be between 40 – 80 men.
- Military 5 – 10 Soldiers
- Ghana National Fire Service should be between 5 and 10 men if available.

- Medicals should be between 5 and 10 men.
- St. John's - 20
- Ambulance 1 or 2

iii. Category 'C' matches i.e. matches between Premier League Clubs other than Hearts and Kotoko. The security, medical and allied Deployment will be as follows:-

- Ghana Police between 15 and 40 men
- Armed Forces 5 and 10 men
- GNFS 5 and 10 men
- Medical team 5 and 10 men
- Red Cross 5 and 10 men
- St. John's 10 men
- Ambulance 1or 2
It must be noted that in special cases the figures provided above can be varied to suit the situations.

It has also come to the notice of the PLB that some clubs have resolved to cheat in the sale of tickets. We wish to advice those concerned to stop the practice since any person caught would be handed over to the Law enforcement agencies.

By copies of this circular letter, RSDOs/RFA Chairmen are to ensure the effective implementation of the above decisions.
