Medeama calm despite poor form

The season is definitely not going according to the script for Medeama but the preseason favourites are confident of a turnaround.

A 3-0 loss at the weekend to Tema Youth jolted the club awake, if they were asleep after what has been a tepid start. Wednesday’s home game with AshGold should be a turning point.

“We lost a game last Sunday and we are moving on,” the spokesperson of the club, Ebenezer Aidoo, told SuperSport.com. “Tema Youth hit us twice in rapid succession and by the time we were recovering, they scored again. These things happen and we’ll have to make sure at Obuasi we are more careful.”

Medeama would likely start the same team that lost at the weekend, despite listless performances from the usually good Hans Cofie and Sumaila Atia. With static play being witnessed in their midfield, the input of Larbi Koomson has been missed.

The local national team (CHAN) player has been in the treatment room for more than a month now, but Aidoo revealed he is steadily getting better. “He should be back in a week or two at most. He’s recovering well.”

Medeama spent a lot before the season started and were expected to be contending for the top two spots by this time. Instead, they lie 11th. The Medeama-AshGold tie would be live on SuperSport 9 from 1815GMT
