League Champions to keep trophy

For the first time in the history of Ghana's professional league, the league champions will have the trophy for keeps.

Ghana Telecom, sponsors of the 2005 league and the Professional League Board of the Ghana Football Association announced this at a ceremony to unveil the giant trophy for the premier League.

In addition, each member of the winning team will be given a miniature trophy for his efforts.

In the past a team had to win thrice on the trot to possess the trophy on a permanent basis.

The chief executive officer of Ghana Telecom, Oysten Bjorge, told Joy Sports that the decision to give a trophy away each year is GT?s way of inspiring quality competition and enthusiasm in the league.
