King Faisal vows to upset Kotoko in final League match

Kumasi, July 16, GNA - The management of Kumasi-based King Faisal F/C has promised to stun city rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in their final Glo Premier League match on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

A convincing win for the Alhaji Grunsah boys can guarantee them a place in next season's CAF MTN Championship League and as such the management has vowed to leave no stone unturned as they clash with the Porcupine Warriors who lie second on the League table with 48 points. Faisal with 45 points is fourth on the League table and would perhaps also count on a slip by third-placed Heart of Lions to over take them on the table.

Lions lock horns with Berekum Arsenals in their final match. In an interview with the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Thursday ahead of the match, Mr Samuel Otoo, Communication Director of King Faisal said after participating in three CAF Confederation Cup Tournaments in the past, Management feels it was time the Club worked hard to take part in the prestigious Champions League.

He said to this end the playing body has been psyched up to put behind them the recent defeat at the hands of Tema Youth and to concentrate on the crucial match against Kotoko.

The Communications Director said handsome winning bonuses would be paid to the players should they bring Kotoko to its knees and qualify Faisal for its Champions League debut.

Mr Otoo explained that having lost to Kotoko 2-1 in the first leg, the technical team had critically studied the video clip of that particular match, identified their weaknesses and has corrected them for the up-coming match.

He debunked rumours that Faisal's match against Tema Youth was fixed, saying there was no truth in those speculations and urged the supporters to treat the allegations with the contempt it deserves.

The Communications Director appealed to sympathizers of Faisal to rally solidly behind the team to enable the playing body to be motivated to beat Kotoko on the day. Madam Helena Cobbina, a Management Member of Asante Kotoko has meanwhile called on the Club's teeming fans and playing body to put behind them their recent defeat to AshGold F/C and focus on the duel with Faisal.

A disappointing result for League leaders, Hearts of Oak and a win for Kotoko on Sunday, could turn things in Kotoko's favour. She told the GNA Sports that Kotoko-Faisal crucial encounters had always favoured the Porcupine Warriors and was optimistic that the tradition would continue. 16 July 09
