Hearts pip Bofokwa in Premier League

Tema, Nov. 25, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak completed the 12th Week Onetouch Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Bofoakwa Tano at the Tema Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The match which marked the deadline set for the declaration of Ghana's representatives for the 2007 CAF Champions League, saw Hearts scoring the only goal of the match in the 27th minute through Ablade Morgan when he slotted home a penalty kick.

The penalty came about when a Hearts attacker was brought down in the Bofo penalty box for the referee to whistle for a spot kick and Morgan made sure of planting the ball to ensure his side took the maximum three points to improve their build-up on the League table.

With the victory Hearts who now lye third on the league table following the re-awarding of three points by the Appeals Committee' decision and an order for a replay in their abortive match against Tema Youth are sure of making it to Africa come next year.

Hearts made their intention of carrying the day in the early stages of the match as they kept the goal area of Bofoakwa boiling after Referee Jeoffrey Amamoo of Cape Coast had signaled the two teams to action.

Try as Hearts did they failed to score any more goals as a result of poor finishing up front till the end of the first half. Disaster struck Hearts in the 78th minute when Robert Aryeetey was shown the red for booting Bofoakwa's Opoku Antwi.

Bofoakwa however failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage to score to fetch the equaliser till the end of proceedings as the Hearts defence ably held their opponents in check. Francis Bossman of Hearts, who played a good yeoman's game for his side was adjudged the Best Player of the match.
