Hearts Beat Feyenoord

Accra Hearts of Oak notched a 2-1 victory over Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord in their Onetouch Premier league match at the Tema Sports Stadium.

Hearts should have won the match with an avalanche of goals, following the persistent pressure they mounted on their opponents in the first half when they scored the two goals, the first goal coming in the third minute through Ablade Morgan and the other in the 25th minute through a penalty taken by Dan Quaye but the Phobians then surprisingly faded completely in the second half.

Feyenoord who played as if they were possessed, looked jittery in the first half but changed their pattern of play in the second session and scored their goal in the 47th minute when Hearts goalie, Abubakar Sulemana failed to grab a first time shot delivered by Dominic Adiyah for hovering Abdul Nafiu Iddrisu to lob the ball over the keeper to earn an applause from the fans.

Hearts substituted goalkeeper Sulemana with Laud Quartey while Isaac Bortey came in for Soloman Asante in the 60th minute but that did not change the score line as both teams failed to score again. Charles Valdis of Hearts won the Best Player Award.

Earlier on in the first half, placard-bearing supporters of Hearts were seen demonstrating against the Ghana Football Association's decision of declaring them losers in their abortive match against Tema Youth.

Some of the placards read, "GFA/PLB contempt case pending", "Otu Quaye continue with the court case" and "Randy leave Hearts Alone".

Swedru Gamba All Blacks registered their second home win in the 10th Week match of the Onetouch Premier League when they beat Accra Great Olympics 1-0 in their match played at the Swedru sports stadium. All Black's top striker Bismark Idan scored the only goal of the match in the 35th minute.

Idan who is also a player of the National Under 23 team, Black Meteors, collected the ball from the right flank from a team mate in the 18 yard box of Olympics and sent in a powerful shot which beat keeper Ben Mensah in posts for Olympics.

All Blacks who were determined to carry the day, started the match on a fast note and out played the visitors in all departments of the game in the first half.

In the 19th minute, there was a temporary hold up when the Olympics keeper Mensah collided with Idan. Olympics made three changes to beef up their attacking machinery but the changes failed to change their pattern of play and to find the net.

Referee Cecil Fletcher from Takoradi showed six yellow cards to players of the two teams to bring sanity in the game. In the second half, All Blacks came strongly again into the picture but wasted all the opportunities hat came their way including four corner kicks.

However some of the decisions of Referee Fletcher did not go down well for the fans of All Blacks the game as they nearly disrupted proceedings.

It took the police personnel a hectic time to maintain law and control the crowd after Referee Fletcher blew the final whistle.
