Faisal beat Hearts with nine men

Kumasi, June 17, GNA - Kumasi King Faisal defeated League leaders Accra Hearts of Oak by a lone in the 23rd Week Glo Premier League game played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday. Faisal who dominated the entire game with nine men after two of their players were given the marching off orders held on to an eighth minute goal scored by Eric Kwaku Poku.

Faisal lost goalkeeper Sam Okyere in the 13th minute after he fouled Affum for referee Awal Mohammed to wast no time in showing him the red card.

He was replaced by Osei Boateng with Prince Arko as the sacrificial lamb.

Faisal had their strength reduced further in the 39th minute, when Ebo Andoh also received his second booking in the game for handling the ball and got the marching off orders but Hearts failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage over their Kumasi lads. Hearts seemed to have lost the initial steam that saw them stretch their lead on the table as they were visibly not up the task and seemed not interested in fetching the equalizer or carrying the day. The defeat of the Phobians thus reduced their point lead between second placed Faisal, after an initial 14 point lead. 17 June 09
