Ashgold rides on as they beat Arsenals

Obuasi Ashgold maintained their unbeaten run in the second round of the Glo Premier League when they chalked a 3-2 win over Berekum Arsenals in their week 20 clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in mid week.

Yakubu Mohammed’s hat-trick won the day for the Miners as he opened the scores in the 11th minute.

Arsenals, however, leveled up from an own goal scored by Bernard Akuffo in the 24th minute after his attempt to clear the ball entered his own net.

Yakubu was however on hand again with four minutes to break the first half to ensure Ashgold went to the dressing room with a 2-1 advantage.

From the recess, Yakubu made victory certain for the homers when he increased the tally to 3-1 on 56 minutes.

Arsenals put up a last minute effort to stage a comeback but could only pull a goal back when Razak Egyir converted from the spot with four minutes to end proceedings but it was little too late to salvage them from defeat.**
