Legon beat KNUST in hockey

Cape Coast Jan.23, GNA - The University of Ghana, Legon on Friday beat Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST 5-4 on penalty strokes in the hockey competition of the on-going GUSA games currently going on at Cape Coast.

From the bully off, KNUST dictated the pace of the game and scored the opener through their centre forward, Senya Sedenko, in the 15th minute.

University of Ghana immediately returned the attack and levelled up through a penalty stroke taken by inside left, Harold Osei in the 35th minute.

Just after the commencement of the second half, University of Ghana increased their score to 2 goals through outside right Stephen Tenkorang in the 55th minute but KNUST managed to fetch the requaliser through Senya Sedenko who played a yeoman's game to bring the full time score to 2-2.

When the penalty rule was invoked to decide a winner, University of Ghana scored three (3) goals while KNUST scored 2 goals to bring the final score to 5 - 4 in favour of University of Ghana. In another development, University of Education, Winneba, gained a narrow 1 -0 win over University of Cape Coast, while UCC (Women) beat KNUST 2-0.

In the basketball event, UCC beat University of Ghana 49-44 while University for Development Studies, Tamale, beat University of Education, Winneba 75-21.
