SESSA Women’s Hockey – CEPS and Fire Service Clash for Gold

CEPS ladies took a significant step in the bid to retain their title as SESSA champions when they brushed aside Police 2-0 in the final pool match of the ladies competition. CEPS finished top of the table with 10 points ahead of Fire Service who bagged 9 points.

The Gold Medal match which comes off on Thursday October 29 2009 at 17:30hrs, will thus be between CEPS and Fire. Prisons will contest Police for the bronze medal while Ghana Armed Forces, who finished without a point, are confined to the bottom of the final placing.

On the way to the final CEPS were declared winners against Ghana Armed Forces, beat Fire Service 1-0, drew 1-1 with Prisons and beat Police 2-0. Fire were also declared winners against Ghana Armed Forces, beat Police 2-0 and crawled back from a goal down to win 2-1 on the stroke of full time against Prisons.

The Men’s final pool matches will be played Tuesday afternoon to determine who plays in the final match on Thursday. CEPS and Ghana Armed Forces are favourites as they go head to head with Prisons lurking in the background for an eventual slip.
