Greater Accra Hockey Association Elect New Executive

The Greater Accra Hockey Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29th March 2008 at the Conference Room of the Accra Sport Stadium to present to its members, the Association’s Annual Report and the Audited Accounts. A major aspect of the AGM was the election of members to serve as Executive Members of the Association for the period January 2008 to January 2010. The following were elected:

1. Mr. Frank Awuku - Chairman

2. Mr. Samuel Ofosu - Vice-Chairman

3. Dr. Moses Aikins - Secretary

4. Mr. Esmond Botchway - Assistant Secretary

5. Mr. Derrick Cann-Tamakloe - Treasurer

6. Nii Kpani Addy - Media/Public Relations Officer

7. Mr. Henry Fynn - Assistant Media/Public Relations Officer

The newly elected executives were sworn in by Mr. Richard Akpokavie, Vice Chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Frank Awuku thanked members for the confidence reposed in him and asked them to co-operate with the officers to enable them discharge their duties efficiently. He welcomed the new members to the executive and expressed the hope that they will work together as a team during their tenure of office He asked all the Clubs to do away with indiscipline to ensure a smooth Season. The new Executive have been charged by the clubs to come out with the finalized programme for the year which is expected to focus on three main competitions, that is the Gala, League and Knockout. Additional events are expected to be organized in conjunction with the Ghana Hockey Association and the Regional Hockey Associations.
