Female Handball team invited for camping

Accra, April 23, GNA - The Handball Association of Ghana (HAG) has invited 18 players of the national female handball team for camping towards an impending challenge contest.

The Association has been invited by the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) to participate in the African Handball Challenge Trophy scheduled for Abidjan, La Cote D'Ivoire from 8th to 17th May, 2010. The invited players to be supported by two coaches have been invited to commence training and preparation towards the event. Williams Kyei, acting Secretary General of the Association in a press release copied to GNA Sports said the 18 players currently in camp at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, Kaneshie are made up of; Rose Adjavon and Rahinatu Iddrisu - Future Stars, Beatrice Neequaye, Rebecca Sekyebea and Lawrencia Lartey - Ghana Prisons, Danso Susuana and Philipine Dede Ossom - Ghana Armed Forces,

The rest are Juliana Partey, Catherine Acolatse and Linda Nkansah - HOSTAC, Franklyna Mensah - Ghana Police Service, Doris Agyemang and Gifty Nortey - Ghana Police Service, Esther Ayrade - Schools and Colleges (Volta), Dorothy Akwolaga - Schools and Colleges (Ashanti), Gloria Nyinaku - Asomdwe, Jacqueline Mensah - Schools and Colleges (Western) and Fati Iddrisu - Fire Service.

The Coaches are George Bankole (Head Coach, Handball) and Emmanuel N. K. Ankrah (Coach). It would be recalled that the National Female Handball Team won the last edition in Lome, Togo in 2008 and are therefore the defending champions of the trophy.
