Taysec Open Golf Championship fixed for October 6

The fourth annual Taysec Construction Company Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf course in Accra on Saturday, October 6.

Anthony Morgan, Group Commercial Manager of Taysec Construction Limited told the GNA Sports that the competition, which used to be called “Taywood Bow” has now been named the "Taysec Cup" following the change of ownership of the company three years ago.

He said about 120 amateur golfers and guests of Taysec are expected to participate in the 18-Hole Stableford Competition.

Mr. Morgan said there would be handicap allowances of 18 and below for the men and also 27 and below for the ladies.

The competition would also feature “Nearest to the Pin” for men and ladies on Hole-18 and “Longest Drive”” on Hole-17 for both men and ladies.

According to Mr. Sam Zakli, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Tournament, the last open championship was very successful and hoped that this years event would be an improvement upon the previous one.

Among the golfers expected to compete for the various trophies at stake are Carl Brew-Aidoo, F.A. Amoah, Assah-Sam Yaw, Nana Darkwah and E.K. Amezado.

Vic Adei, Ama Morgan, Nana Bema Tackie, Esi Cobbina and Mary Asafo Adjaye would also battle each other for the ladies cup.

Mr. Geoff Fisher, Chairman and Managing Director of Taysec would lead his team, which includes Andy Woods, Warren Hawkins, David Griffin and John Huckle.

Mr. A.Y. Abebrese, the Financial Director of the Company would be among the officials of Taysec to grace the occasion.
